AIRPORT FACILITY DIRECTORIES AIRPORT FACILITY DIRECTORIES
Airport/Facility Directory is a pilot's manual that contains data on public use and joint use airports, seaplane bases heliports, VFR airport sketches, NAVAIDs, communications data, weather data sources, airspace, special notices, and operational procedures. The seven volumes cover the conterminous United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The Airport/Facility Directory includes data that cannot be readily depicted in graphic form: e.g., airport hours of operation, types of fuel available, runway data, lighting codes, etc. The Airport/Facility Directory also provides a means for pilots to update visual navigation charts between editions dates; i.e., the Airport/Facility Directory is published every 56 days while the VFR Sectional and Terminal Area Charts are generally revised every six months. Volumes are side-bound 5-3/8 x 8-1/4 inches.

Area Charts and IFR/VFR Wall Planning Charts are in this section.
ALASKA VFR SECTIONAL CHARTS ALASKA VFR SECTIONAL CHARTS
Sectional Aeronautical Charts are designed for visual navigation of slow to medium speed aircraft. The topographic information featured consists of the relief and a judicious selection of visual checkpoints used for flight under visual flight rules. The checkpoints include populated places, drainage patterns, roads, railroads, and other distinctive landmarks. The aeronautical information on Sectional Charts includes visual and radio aids to navigation, airports, controlled airspace, restricted areas, obstructions, and related data.

LAMINATED CHARTS CAN BE ORDERED FOR ANY SECTIONAL OR WAC CHART NOS MAKES.

TERMINAL AREA (CLASS B) CHARTS TERMINAL AREA (CLASS B) CHARTS
Terminal Aeronautical Charts depict the airspace designated as Class B airspace. The information found on these charts, while similar to that found on Sectional Charts, is shown in much more detail because of the larger scale. These charts should be used by pilots intending to operate from airfields within or near Class B airspace or Class C airspace. Coverage of Terminal Area Charts are indicated by shaded boxes on the Sectional Chart index.

*NOTE: Charted VFR Flyway Planning Charts are printed on the backs of selected Terminal Area Charts.

ALASKA WORLD AERONAUTICAL CHARTS (WAC) ALASKA WORLD AERONAUTICAL CHARTS (WAC)
World Aeronautical Charts cover land areas at a standard size and scale for navigation by moderate speed aircraft and aircraft operating at high altitudes. The topographical information includes city tints, principal roads, railroads, distinctive landmarks, drainage patterns and relief. The aeronautical information includes visual and radio aids to navigation, airports, airways, restricted areas, obstructions and other pertinent data. Because of their smaller scale, these charts do not show as much detailed information as appears on the Sectional and Terminal Area Charts. For example, Class D and Class E airspace and the limits of controlled airspace are not shown. Because some information is not shown, World Aeronautical Charts are not recommended for exclusive use by pilots of low speed, low altitude aircraft. These charts are revised and updated annually, except for a few in Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean, which are revised biennially.

HELICOPTER ROUTE CHARTS HELICOPTER ROUTE CHARTS
Helicopter Route Charts are three-color charts that depict current aeronautical information useful to helicopter pilots navigating in areas with high concentrations of helicopter activity. Information depicted includes helicopter routes, four classes of heliports with associated frequency and lighting capabilities, NAVAIDS, and obstructions. In addition, pictorial symbols, roads, and easily-identified geographical features are portrayed. Since helicopter charts have a longer life span than other NOAA products, all new editions of these charts will be printed on synthetic paper. These charts are updated as requested by the Federal Aviation Administration.
